1. Fresh Start Bariatrics Seminar
The first step in your journey to bariatric surgery in Ohio is attending one of our free seminars. You’ll hear from Dr. Stephan Myers on why bariatric weight loss surgery could be right for you. You’ll learn much more about the process of preparing for bariatric surgery and more about how each operation works. You’ll also hear from our former patients whose lives were transformed by bariatric surgery. 2. Pre-surgery evaluation
After your seminar you’ll begin a series of one-on-one meetings with Fresh Start Bariatrics staff members including a patient advocate. Then you’ll schedule your one day comprehensive evaluation that includes meeting with a psychologist, a nutritionist and the medical specialist. One to two weeks prior to your surgery you will return to our offices for further preparation prior to surgery. The pre-surgery evaluation is never rushed as we believe it is one of the most important factors to ensure your long-term success with bariatric surgery.

3. Bariatric weight loss surgery
Dr. Myers performs three types of bariatric surgery: Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, adjustable gastric band and Gastric Sleeve. Every one of our surgeries is performed at Riverside Methodist Hospital, respected nationwide for exceptional patient care and outstanding results. These procedures are usually performed laparoscopically using minimally invasive techniques.

4. Post-surgery
After your surgery, licensed dietitians and exercise physiologists will meet with you to design a customized diet and exercise program. You may also receive one-on-one counseling to help you manage this major life change and will have regularly scheduled follow-up visits with Dr. Myers or our Internal Medicine physician. The changes every patient experiences physically and mentally after surgery are monumental – it’s why we offer such personalized care, from start to finish.
